The Gallery

"The most valuable items in my home are the portraits of my two sons and the one of my parents (not pictured). You can see them below.  When they were six and eight years old, we spent a day at the Carl Sandburg home in Flat Rock, North Carolina and I had my camera with me.

My boys are wearing red and blue sweatshirts, standing on the stone steps in one of the portraits, below, second row.

The second painting of my sons is based on a photograph I took of them just a few days before one went off to Basic Training in the US Army and the other one followed a couple months after.

They are currently stationed in Europe and my husband and I miss them.  They are great sons and we are very proud of them.

Today, their portraits adorn the walls of our home, holding still their childhood and the men they have become.
